Spotlight June 2024: The Pride Institute

Spotlight June 2024: The Pride Institute

By Michelle Lunger

In honor of Pride month in June, we are giving the spotlight to the Pride Institute! The Pride Institute is a treatment program for addiction, substance abuse, as well as mental health conditions for those a part of the LGBTQ+ community. The programs that they offer include residential treatment, outpatient treatment such as Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization (PHP) programs, as well as a LGBTQ+ family therapy program. Each of their programs provide an individualized treatment plan that promotes the unique needs of each person in their care.

Additionally, the Pride Institute acknowledges the barriers of mental health and addiction treatment that those a part of the LGBTQ+ community can face. They recognize that unfortunately, not all treatment facilities are inclusive, supportive, and informed about the LGBTQ+ experience. To break those barriers, they strive to make sure all their treatment programs provide a safe space that promotes inclusivity and acceptance. All of their staff are trained to be knowledgeable about unique challenges that those part of the LGBTQ+ community can face.

Recovery doesn’t just mean living substance-free; it means living a more integrated and expressive life. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to addiction treatment. Non-LGBTQ+-specific substance use treatment facilities are often uninformed about LGBTQ+ issues, and some even hold outdated beliefs regarding the relationship between addiction or mental health concerns and the LGBTQ+ experience. At the Pride Institute, we nurture personal growth, resiliency, and overall wellness for the individuals in our care. That understanding, along with our community-driven ethos, has helped us build a strong network of Pride Institute alums who support and encourage each other during and after treatment. The Pride Institute is committed to providing individuals in the LGBTQ+ community a welcoming space for recovery through evidence-based treatment for substance use, sexual health, and mental health.”

Most importantly, if you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community and are in need of recovery and support with addiction, substance abuse, and or a mental health condition(s) you can reach out to the Pride Institute today (see below). You don’t have to do this alone, the Pride institute is here to support you through your journey. And if you are struggling currently- we see you and we are here for you as well. You are always worthy and deserving of receiving the care you need. Join us as we support the Pride Institute as they break the barriers for mental health, addiction, and substance abuse treatment. We stand with the Pride Institute as they prioritize recovery, inclusivity, and acceptance for those a part of the LGBTQ+ community!
