End of the Year Reflection
By Michelle Lunger
And just like that, 2021 is coming to an end. This year, we have learned that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel even when we can’t always see it or believe it at the moment. We now know that we can’t always run away from our mistakes or troubles because they are inevitable and we have to face them either way. Things are happening either with us or without us so it is best to accept that fact and believe it to be true rather than overlook it. So with that, we have learned that the best way is through, with strength and perseverance. It may be difficult, and it may feel uncomfortable, but that feeling won’t last forever. Every battle and struggle is a lesson learned which guides us to our own path or journey or even a new and better one. We hope you join us to bring this idea of hope into the new year and the next to come.
As we are reflecting on this past year, we remember all the strides we have made with Ride The Wave hoping for it to continue to inspire us and bring positivity in our lives and others. We initially started RTW as an idea in the summer of 2020 and brought it to life in the following fall. Looking back at May, during Mental Health Awareness month we had our first zoom event where we explored self-love, mindfulness, and yoga. Also, each month we have been donating to and highlighting different mental health organizations that we stand behind and value. Recently, we hit over 12k followers on Instagram and we are so happy our community is growing! It is truly incredible to see this and it fills us with so much gratitude.
We created RTW to create a safe place for us and our followers to be open about the conversation surrounding mental health and mental illness without judgement. Everything we do for RTW comes from our hearts and our own experiences to hopefully help you with your own mental health journey. This is only the beginning of our journey and there is so much more to come. We hope to extend our brand, blog, and social media into a lifestyle and safe haven for people to go to for inspiration and comfort. We already know we are slowly, but surely taking the right steps to get to that place. It means so much to have touched even a few people’s lives- that is the reason why we created RTW in the first place. For that support and connection we wish we would've had when we were younger.
To continue, it is easy for people who have a mental illness or deal with the difficulties of mental health to feel sad and alone. It is easy to feel isolated and like you are the only one who feels the way you do, especially within the past couple of years. We want to remind you that you are not alone and that you don’t have to carry the weight of the world by yourself. We are here for you; our community is here for you. We hope as we grow, you grow too. We hope to continue to share all our victories- big and small, with you and get through tough times together.
With that, we would like to propose a “blog toast”- To everyone who has helped us turn Ride The Wave into a reality, to our community for following along with us, for more exciting things coming up in the new year for all of us, and for those who chose to keep pushing through tough times despite it all- Cheers! Cheers to surviving every battle because it has taught us and given us strength. And with that strength, cheers to knowing we can make it through today and any day because we have before. Remember to hold on to the hope and positivity that surrounds you into the new year. Use the strength, patience, and perseverance learned from 2021 to 2022. Here’s to another year, we hope you all have a happy and safe new year and we are looking forward for what’s to come! <3
