Spotlight April 2024: Anxiety Depression Association of America (ADAA)

By Michelle Lunger

For April, we are giving the spotlight to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA). As an organization, ADAA is dedicated to the prevention and treatment of anxiety, depression, OCD, and co-occurring disorders. ADAA works to “improve the quality of life for those who suffer through evidence-based educational resources, professional practice, and scientific research.” Ultimately, ADAA’s goal is to raise awareness about the impact of mental health on physical health, because mental health is health! Additionally, the organization works to find new treatments by bringing together mental health professionals to “improve patient care by promoting the use of the best practices and treatments through continuing education, training and accelerating the use of research into practice.” ADAA is dedicated to creating an environment that supports cultural equity, inclusion, and diversity. As an organization, they wish to ensure that everyone feels safe, seen, valued, respected, and welcome.

Furthermore, as an organization ADAA is committed to improve the lives of individuals with anxiety disorders and depression. ADAA strives to reduce the stigma surrounding these mental health conditions and mental health in general. “Our passion is helping people understand the disorders, find treatment, and recover.” ADAA's website offers expert reviewed content highlighting how to recognize signs and symptoms of anxiety disorders and depression as well as treatment options, and access to a Find-a-Therapist platform. Additionally, ADAA “encourages people living with anxiety, depressive, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma-related disorders to share their stories about their struggles, how they cope, and triumph. This helps decrease stigma and makes people feel less alone. We inspire to make a difference in the lives of people with anxiety disorders and depression.”

Ultimately, at RTW we support and stand with ADAA to continually work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and mental health conditions. Along with ADAA we also strive to make sure our community members as well as others feel safe, seen, heard, valued, respected, welcome, and not alone. Join us as we continue to support ADAA and their mission to help those with mental health conditions, reduce stigma, spread awareness, provide education, and so much more!

“By supporting the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) you help further research, ensure that critical resources are available to those who need them most, and offer hope to the millions of individuals who face mental health issues.

With your support, ADAA will continue to raise awareness about the impacts of mental health, find new treatments, and one day prevent and cure anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and co-occurring disorders.

Your donation helps break the stigma of mental health.”
